Personality:
Chris Argent is methodical, practical, able to compartmentalize his emotions, overprotective, and focused. Raised as a hunter, he's capable and adheres to the code that's supposed to define their profession. Chris doesn't enjoy killing, doesn't seek it out, but he does follow orders, and he does kill when it's necessary.
He's a soldier, a father, a man who watched his father and sister fall prey to their darkness while he kept control, sought to uphold the code. He didn't agree with their methods or motivations, but he also found himself unable to stand against them, at least until the truth came out.
Chris learned how to close his emotions off, to put them aside, but even when he does, it's not a complete dissociation as much as he may claim otherwise. His emotions influence his decisions and even when the correct path is in front of him, his emotions sometimes prevent him from making the hard choice.
Chris was raised with the code 'We hunt those who hunt us, but at some point, his family around him deviated heavily, Kate out of the enjoyment of killing, Gerard out of his own twisted mind, and Victoria, out of a twisted idea she was protecting her own daughter, and he almost lost Allison as well, to the darkness Gerard tried to cultivate inside her, using her emotions after Victoria's suicide.
The major turning point for him was definitely the end of s2, seeing the lengths his father was willing to go after condemning his wife to death, watching him warp Allison, and then taking him down with the help of the wolves. He's more tolerant of the wolves after that, in his own way.
In s3, he initially tried to stay out of the supernatural side of things, but seeing the damage 'ostensibly' done by Boyd and Cora brought him back into it, Chris agreeing to help Scott, Derek, and Isaac track the other two wolves. He doesn't take on the alpha pack directly, but he does track the events surrounding the Darach and provides information and help to both Allison and the packs.
To me, his motivation for continuing was the chance to at least try to protect his daughter and save lives, and after she passed, to use his skills to support the people she loved.
There are several relationships that he maintains throughout the series, although the most important one is with his daughter Allison. She's basically his motivation, his reason for continuing to hunt and the only family he has left after the first two seasons. His actions in s1 are driven both by his desire to stop the alpha and to protect her. In fact, he was doing his damnedest to keep her out of the business until Kate ruined that.
Chris loves his family deeply and he's an overprotective father well into 3a, although he doesn't stop her from getting involved. The problem is, he knows where the life leads and he wanted to try and give her something normal, a semi-stable life, but that went out the window when she stepped into the world of the hunter.
His relationship with Kate is complicated. They're family but they're clearly not on the same wavelength, Chris focused on stopping the alpha while Kate seems to be taking the opportunity to undermine him. She brings Allison into the Hunter's world before she's ready, tries to turn her into a killer, and essentially treats Chris like he's a slow-witted fool and disobeys his orders in regards to protecting his daughter. When Chris learns the truth though, he gives her two options, and had it not been for Peter, he likely would have turned her over to the law.
Gerard is a completely different matter. The man is twisted and devious, his choices leading them down paths that defy the code, that bring more death and misery. Chris follows his lead at first, although his distaste for his father's methods becomes clear and after Victoria's suicide, he starts speaking up to oppose him in a bid to get Allison out of the revenge spiral Gerard is fostering in her. Chris sides with the wolves in the end and this is the start of a new path for him.
Victoria is probably the relationship we see the least about. Yes, they're married and he cares for her, even loves her, but Victoria Argent isn't a warm person and their relationship, while clearly a combined front, doesn't provide much to work with. She defends Kate claiming the woman is iinnocent, even with the proof and is more worried about the Argent name than the fact her sister-in-law was a murderer.
I can't see Chris agreeing with her decision to kill Scott when he's done no actual harm, although he would have been angry finding out about him and Allison. Chris was damaged by her death though and even more so when he saw his father chose the path that had cost Victoria her life.
The thing I noticed more or less, is that while Chris is the voice of reason for his family, they don't listen to him. Even Allison, after Victoria's death, shuts him out and takes after Gerard, although she comes back from it and their relationship improves. Allison is the one who helps define their code and gives him a chance to prove himself again, a chance to regain his faith and use the training and knowledge he has for it's intended purpose.
As for the werewolves, Chris is not a fan of the species in general, but there are several who have earned his respect and even trust, starting with Scott McCall. In season one and two, Scott and Chris are clearly at odds, Chris viewing him as a beast, rejecting the relationship Scott wants with Allison and going so far as to threaten to kill him if they don't break up, although he never shows any actual hatred for Scott, personally.
Isaac he comes to respect and even welcome into his home, the wolf proving himself to be a good ally and have a good heart. Chris develops a closer bond with him than even with Scott, Isaac working more closely with Allison in 3b and Chris finally accepting her choice in men. When Chris leaves at the end of 3b, he takes Isaac with him and while we don't know where Isaac goes next, I can see them keeping in touch.
Derek on the other hand, is more at odds with him throughout the series, even if not an overt enemy after season 2, but he definitely crosses into more of an ally in 3b when they're facing the Nogitsune. Derek protecting Chris from the blast was likely what moved him from occasionally helpful to someone who's trustworthy.
Powers/Abilities: He's skilled marksman and hunter, along with displaying proficiency with other weapons in his canon.
